THREE ARRESTED AS COCAINE AND FIREARMS ARE SEIZED IN DUBLIN

Three people have been arrested following the seizure of drugs worth an estimated €500,000, and two firearms in Dublin.
The seizure took place following an incident whereby a car took off at speed from a Covid-19 garda checkpoint on the Phibsboro Road at around 4.30am this morning. The car sped off when Gardaí attempted to stop it at the checkpoint.

Gardaí then pursued the car which crashed into a wall on Essex Quay. One of the occupants of the car threw an item into the River Liffey.

Following a search of the river, two handguns were later recovered by Gardaí.

A search of the crashed vehicle was carried out and 8kg of suspected cocaine, believed to be worth around €500,000, as well as a small amount of suspected cannabis herb were seized. Gardaí say that the drugs have been sent for analysis.

Two men and a woman, aged in their 20s, have been arrested and are being detained at Kevin Street Garda Station.
